2 day Workshop on Machine Learning

Machine learning is a field of science in which computers are taught to learn from data and make decisions. Machine learning has wide applications in artificial intelligence tasks. In particular, deep learning, a recently emerged area of Machine Learning has proved to be a state-of-the-art on various tasks in Artificial Intelligence. Deep learning has been used with great success on tasks as face recognition, object detection, photo captioning, automatic speech recognition, machine translation, recommender systems in                     e-commerce, and predictive analysis etc.

A two-day hands-on workshop on “Machine Learning – Introduction and Applications” will be held on 03-04 May, 2016 at the Department of Electrical Engineering, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Abbottabad. The Aim of this workshop is to provide basic and advanced level knowledge on Machine Learning. It will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of machine learning domain. The workshop will also include a hands-on session in which participants will be able to implement their own model for supervised classification task. To encourage active participation and gain maximum value from the lecture materials, participants will get a chance to win prizes during lectures/hands-on session.

NTS Need based – Scholarship Program

NTS Need – based Scholarship program has been announced in the 2nd Phase for the deserving students which covers their tuition fee and provides a semester stipend.

  • Tuition Fee: NTS recompenses the complete or partial tuition fee of the nominated student enrolled in under-graduate / graduate level program of the NTS Associated University or Institution.
  • Stipend: Every nominated student as selected by the UISAC is also eligible for stipend amounting unto Rs. 25,000/- per semester.

Attendance Correction

Students admitted in of SP16: You can apply for attendance correction due to late registrations especially of those students who were admitted in Phase II of MS admission. You are required to fill an application form available here:

 Students of other batches/sessions: As you were communicated before the start of semester that your attendance will not be corrected if you don’t submit your fee in time; therefore any late registrations due to late fee submission will NOT BE ADDRESSED now. However, there are some exceptions who got late in registeration due to some genuine reasons. You can also submit your application through the given link.

The following students should visit my office and collect their letter regarding missing documents. Last date to submit your missing documents is 25th April, 2016

If you fail to submit the required documents then you will not be allowed to sit in the upcoming examinations (sessionals, final).

Thesis Guidance Seminar – II

Dear Thesis doing students!

The first session of the guidance seminar covered all administrative aspects, deadlines, requirements, submission process, etc. In addition, you were informed about using the correct synopsis template and writing each section of the synopsis correctly. Due to the shortage of time, we could not cover the second part which is more about DOING RESEARCH.
